Saturday (04.04.) evening our plane (jetblue) left from Boston for Fort Lauderdale airport. That one is often cheaper than flying directly to Miami airport. An Uber brought us from the airport to our Airbnb host near Downtown Miami and we arrived almost at midnight. The mom of our host opened the door and was very friendly and helpful. We decided to head for a before going to sleep. Our host suggested us to visit
BARU Urbano in Midtown. But that one required 20 USD entrance fee, which we could spend on drinks. But as we were out for one drink only, we went to neighbouring
IT Espresso Lounge. The music was great (at least I loved it^^) and the people were all dressed up... after weeks in the worst dressed town I've seen to date - Boston - I suddenly felt underdressed :P
The next morning we went for some sightseeing around Miami center... we were surprised that unlike in Boston most shops are closed during Sunday in Miami. We walked past the Miami Courthouse to the Bayfront Park, where we enjoyed breakfast pastries bought at 7-Eleven^^ We continued our way past Marina mall, which was open and lively. We continued past the American Airlines Arena to the Freedom Tower where the history of so many Cubans is displayed that fled Cuba after Fidel started ruling it. Back at our Airbnb we said goodbye and took an Uber to our Airbnb at Miami Beach near the golf club.

Sunbathing, swimming, and later we went for cocktails and dinner at Ocean Drive's famous Carlyle Hotel. The food was delicious, but the portions were tiny... the cocktails were good and big^^ As we were still hungry we went for Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds and enjoyed the "real" dinner watching Miami's skyline behind Miami port at night. The next day (06.04.) we continued with sunbathing, swimming and tok tok. During a walk down to South Point a little bit of rain resulted in the appearence of an amazing rainbow :) Afterwards we picked up our rental car from the Miami Airport. It turned out that we wouldn't have paid more by taking a rental car right from the first day. When somenone at the car rental station demanded to talk to a Spanish speaking employee, we realized that almost everyone in the shops around speaks Spanish... a true enclave for people from the Caribbean. Later that night we then dined at
27 Freehand / The Broken Shaker, close to our Airbnb. The food was just as great and tiny as the evening before :/

The next morning (07.04.) I joined Franzi for a run along the famous Miami Beach Boardwalk.. quite a nice start into the day running next to the beach. Then we drove to Little Havanna and had some breakfast there. The area is a lot smaller than we expected. It is literally just 200m of the 8th street! Then we drove to Key Biscayne, which turned out to have a real island like beach :D We used it for a photo session, besides sunbathing, swimming, and tok tok^^ Later, we went further down the Keys...
